Violent Extremism
In recent years, there has been a disturbing surge in violence and violent extremism across numerous countries, spanning both the ‘Global North and South.’ However, certain regions have been disproportionately affected by this alarming phenomenon. Once peaceful communities in these regions now find themselves subjected to attacks orchestrated by radicalized groups. These groups employ asymmetrical tactics, blending seamlessly into local communities to facilitate recruitment, foster resentment against the state, and exploit ethnic differences to exacerbate intercommunity grievances and tensions.
In light of these challenges, this Thematic Action Area aims to provide valuable resources, facilitate discussions, and offer comprehensive support to empower individuals and organizations in preventing and countering the threat of violent extremism within conflict contexts. By engaging with this platform, you will have the opportunity to strengthen your understanding of the issue and collaborate with like-minded individuals and groups to develop effective strategies and coordination mechanisms.
