Building Peace from the Inside Phase II: Supporting Insider Mediation for Sustainable Transformation of Conflict (IM2), was a 24-month project funded by the European Union and implemented in Burundi, Niger, and Zimbabwe by a consortium of non-governmental organisations (NGOs) comprising Search for Common Ground (Search), Berghof Foundation (Berghof), Interpeace, le Centre d’Alerte et de Prévention des Conflits (CENAP) and Africa University.

The project’s overall objective was to enhance the effectiveness, legitimacy, and utilisation of insider mediation as a mechanism for preventing and transforming violent conflict at the local, national, and international levels. The second phase of the project was building on the results of a first phase, implemented by the same consortium in the same countries between 2020 and 2022.
