About the role
Bodhi is seeking a Senior Researcher (native French speaker) to join our Conflict, Gender & Inclusion (CGI) Team. This role offers the opportunity to lead high-impact research and evaluations at the intersection of conflict, gender, climate change, and the triple nexus (humanitarian-development-peace).
As a Senior Researcher, you will be responsible for designing and delivering projects from inception to close, ensuring quality, timeliness, and compliance. You preferably will bring strong quantitative skills (i.e., evaluation design, survey methods, GIS mapping, social network analysis) combined with thematic depth related to conflict and peacebuilding, including stabilisation, climate security, and women, peace, and security (WPS). You will also mentor junior staff, support business development, and represent Bodhi in external forums.
This position will require regular international travel (at least 30% of working time) to support field research, workshops, and client engagement in fragile and conflict-affected contexts.
You would be ideal for this role if you:
- Are a native French speaker with excellent written and spoken English (mandatory – applications will not be considered without this requirement).
- Have 7+ years’ experience leading conflict/gender/climate-related research in FCAS.
- Have advanced skills in quantitative research methods (i.e., survey design, statistical analysis, GIS, SNA).
- Can balance multiple projects and deliverables while maintaining high quality.
- Enjoy mentoring junior colleagues and contributing to a collaborative team culture.
- Are proactive in identifying business opportunities and strengthening client relationships.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities
Research
- Lead Conflict and Peacebuilding research and analysis projects, including project design, data collection, analysis, and reporting, ensuring that deliverables meet quality expectations and deadlines
- Manage multiple, concurrently-running projects, balancing competing deadlines and internal resource requirements
- Identifying appropriate research designs to understand questions of interest and developing tools and approaches
- Engage with, and adapt, new research practices and approaches, and participatory research tools and methods applied in development research
Business Development
- Drive the development of project and framework proposals, taking lead authorship on technical sections and contributing to budgets, methodologies, and staffing plans.
- Preparing for and attending interviews with potential clients
- Representing the company in the form of attending or presenting at conference events
- Conducting quality assurance on technical sections of proposals
- Lead identification of new business opportunities, including mapping clients, partners, and emerging research themes relevant to conflict, gender, and inclusion
- Contribute to organisational knowledge development and positioning in the field, including authoring blogs, think pieces, and policy briefs.
Person Specification
- Qualification and experience
- Masters degree in Peace and Conflict Studies, Development Studies, International Relations, or a related discipline
- Conceptual understanding and application of conflict and peacebuilding analytical frameworks and/or approaches, including conflict sensitivity, conflict prevention, conflict, transformation, mediation and dialogue, and stabilisation
- At least 7 years of experience delivering conflict analysis or other research on FCAS
- Demonstrated fieldwork experience in FCAS environments
- Advanced knowledge of data collection software and analysis packages (e.g., SPSS, Stata, R, NVivo, GIS platforms, SNA tools).
- Native French speaker (mandatory – applications not meeting this criterion will not be considered).
- Fluency in English.
- Knowledge of Portuguese, or other UN agency languages consider an asset
- Experience of, or interest in, feminist research principles is desirable
- Ability to cope well under pressure, and to occasionally work irregular hours to meet tight deadlines

- Attention to detail: A commitment to high quality deliverables and reports, meticulous in approach to research and report writing

- Organised: Must have a systematic approach to work, with the ability to multitask and manage time efficiently, meeting deadlines under pressure
- Integrity: Must have a strong sense of research and professional ethics (including willingness to complete safeguarding training and checks, and knowledge of ‘no no harm’ principles), be conscientious in approach to work and be committed to Bodhi’s research standards
- Communication: Ability to communicate (verbal and written) confidently in English and to adapt to different audiences and cultural contexts
