    • Welcome to the Stopping as Success (SAS+) Community of Practice discussion board!

We believe that the SAS+ Community of Practice (CoP) on localization and responsible transitions from international to local leadership and ownership is a prime example of where your expertise and experience can be shared with a wider network of practitioners. This mutual learning space will serve to familiarize our network with the various forms that localization processes can take. For more information on the SAS+ project, click here.

This first space is for members of this Community of Practice to get to know each other as we prepare for future sessions. In this discussion thread, please add:

      1. Who you are and where you work?
      2. How you found out about SAS+?
      3. What do you hope to get out of this community of practice?

For any questions or queries, please contact Mélina Villeneuve at [email protected]

      Thank you!

      Hi all

My name is Bert. I am Head of Transformation for HelpAge International.

We are an INGO focusing on the rights, wellbeing and dignity of older people; today and tomorrow.

To remain relevant, impactful and legitimate, HelpAge recognizes that we need to transform. Our value proposition needs to change. How we add value to the mission needs to change.

Not only to “meet the moment” of an acceleration of population ageing (the number of older people will double between now and 2050), but also to fully commit to locally-led development. HelpAge is committed to #ShiftThePower.

To this end, it has radically changed its organisational design.  We are fully moving to partner-led programming and transitioning all our country programmes and office to locally-led entities based on advice of network members, partners, country team and local stakeholders.

SAS+ is supporting us on this journey.

In this context, context, learning from others would be immensely helpful. To learn “at practitioners level”. About the approaches, learnings, struggles, surprises, mishaps, successes, innovations, etc. To share and explore together. As open, safe spaces. Not as talking heads in webinars, but as “doers” navigating the “messy middle”.

I look forward to hearing more about this CoP.

      Bert
