Colombian Youth, Peace and Security Coalition (CCJPS):
The CCJPS is a national network of more than 26 youth organizations, collectives, and independent leaders committed to advancing the Youth, Peace and Security (YPS) agenda in Colombia. We are currently playing an active role in shaping the country’s first National Action Plan on YPS (PAN JPS). Recently, we have been officially designated as the coordinator of the youth committee of the NAP. It is co-led by Fundación LATIR and BogotArt.
We have been representing the Coalition within the International Cooperation Roundtable on Youth (MCIJ), where we collaborate directly with the Government of Colombia, UNFPA, the Ministry of Equality, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and a wide range of international cooperation partners. Within this platform, the CCJPS was appointed to lead the YPS working line, ensuring that young voices remain central to the process, and at the same time creating a stronger process of articulation with the peace ecosystem in the country.
Some key milestones of the YPS working line include:
- Consultative forums held in different regions, which have brought together diverse groups of young people, including Afro-Colombian, rural, peace signatories, migrants, and young women leaders.
- Contribution to the design and governance of the PAN JPS, boosted by three Implementation Committees (Interinstitutional, International Cooperation, and Youth).
- Development of a youth-led research and knowledge base on YPS in Colombia, complementing the consultative process and mapping existing initiatives (Led by Fundación LATIR and BogotArt).
- Ongoing advocacy for meaningful youth participation in decision-making spaces, ensuring that young people are recognized not only as beneficiaries but as co-creators of peace and security policies, including advocacy at El PAcCTO 2.0 Youth Protection Seminar for the youth declaration.
- Generation 2040 Letter
