Introducing Our Core Group of Digital Community Stewards
Meet the SHE LEADS Core Group of Digital Community Stewards from Pakistan, Uzbekistan, and Kyrgyzstan. These dedicated individuals—administrators, moderators, online influencers, and civil society representatives—manage both offline community groups and online spaces like Facebook, WhatsApp, Telegram, and Reddit. They play a vital role in shaping member interactions and behaviors, serving as both facilitators and enforcers of community guidelines.
We spotlight Digital Community Stewards because of their significant reach and influence. As online engagement grows, these spaces can nurture positive connections or, unfortunately, foster harmful behaviors, including technology-facilitated gender-based violence (TFGBV). Digital community stewards are essential in this landscape; they have the power to either allow harmful behavior to persist or to take decisive action in creating safe, respectful environments.
By providing them with the right tools, training, and awareness, we aim to empower Digital Community Stewards to promote positive and inclusive online communities. Our goal is to ensure these spaces encourage healthy discussions, support survivors, and prevent harm.
Stay tuned as we share their stories and the impactful work they’re doing!
