This is the M&E Thursday Talk from Thursday, January 24th, when Soledad Muniz of InsightShare and Josiah Imbayi Mukoya of PACT led a discussion on “Using Participatory Video and Most Significant Change to Measure Trauma Healing and Peacebuilding Outcomes.”
InsightShare and PACT Kenya worked together in a participatory evaluation using Participatory Video and Most Significant Change (PV MSC) to look specifically at the trauma healing component of the PEACE III program in the Kaabong district of Northern Karamoja, with a group of reformed warriors, their spouses and the local community.
Muniz and Mukoya discussed how the PV MSC evaluation showed that the trauma healing component, as part of PEACE III, is a critical intervention to rebuilding connection with oneself and with others in the community. They also explained how it is effective in diffusing healing across communities who have been victims of violence.
Throughout the evaluation process, capacity was built out for PACT staff and partner organizations to continue using these methods. Following the presentation, participants asked poignant questions and discussed lessons learned, recommendations, and how these findings can be applied to the wider peacebuilding field.
