Africa is a continent of opportunities, dynamic development and youth. Half of the African population of 1.2 billion is under the age of 25. Often, children and youth have only limited access to qualitative, participative formal and non-formal education offers and development opportunities. Sport is an effective means to promote education, peace, violence prevention, gender equality, and health. By engaging in sport young people acquire important life skills such as communication, collaboration, and leadership skills that increase their confidence and furthermore qualify them for the labour market. From 07/2022 to 06/2025 S4DA focuses on promoting gender equality, female entrepreneurship, and gender-transformative approaches striving to change mindsets and behaviour patterns regarding the discrimination of women and girls.
Your Tasks:
- Support with coordinating project activities, in particular processing knowledge and data (including close collaboration with the project’s country components and hubs)
- Support with project monitoring and evaluation
- Administrative/ organizational responsibilities, such as preparing appointments, drafting minutes of meetings, developing presentations, concept notes etc.
- Assistance with reporting to BMZ, drafting project progress reports, status reports, stakeholder maps, capacity development strategies
- Support and preparatory work for public and internal events, publications, workshops etc.
- Support with internal team communication and public relations, social media
- Support with developing basic concepts and research on sport for development (S4D) related topics, including S4D and gender transformation, sport in fragile contexts, private sector cooperation, S4D standards and trainings and use of sports grounds, networks, youth leadership etc.
Your Profile:
- A degree in educational sciences, social sciences, political sciences or sports sciences, Gender Studies or an equivalent scientific degree
- Linguistic skills: proficiency in spoken and written English and German; knowledge of another language, such as French is desirable
- Excellent comprehension skills, organization and communication skills as well as team ability and cultural sensitivity
- Knowledge of sport as a development tool
- Knowledge of German and international organized sport
- Knowledge of international development cooperation
- Previous professional experience in the context of sport, sport for development, Africa or similar practical experience is desirable
