The Deputy Project Director supports the U.S. exchange portion of the U.S.-Jordan Leadership Program overseeing the logistics, placements, and support to fellows and hosts. This position also leads and manages the Leadership Support team, a team of staff who will be deployed to Leadership Practice teams for short-term support needs as requested, as well as support initiatives of the Leadership Practice generally.

Your Background & Skills
- Bachelor’s Degree.
- 10+ years of progressive job experience implementing international education programs with a focus on exchange or alumni programming and/or professional training/development programs.
- Experience with Department of State or other USG grants and contracts.
- Experience managing and mentoring staff, with a preference for experience managing diverse teams.
- Experience with procurement procedures and sub-award management.
- Experience developing and monitoring program budgets.
- Experience in coaching, advising, or other relevant leadership development work with young professionals.
- Experience recruiting and managing partner relationships.
- Experience designing and implementing program events and interactive activities, including both virtual and in-person, with curriculum design experience a plus.
- International work or study experience preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to plan strategically and creatively to meet specified objectives with strong ability to anticipate challenges and generate solutions.
- Strong interpersonal and cross-cultural communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as a team member with consistent ability to take initiative, meet deadlines, and be flexible.
- Proven organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail, including the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced office environment.
- Ability to effectively delegate tasks and provide guidance to less experienced staff on internal processes and procedures.
- Skills in or interest in developing capacity for related platforms including Salesforce, Mailchimp, Submittable, or similar.
- Skills or interest in developing capacity in Canvas or other learning management systems.
- Excellent facilitation, training, or presentation skills.
- Demonstrated excellent writing and document proofing skills, with experience documenting program impact using data.
- Analyze data and make data-informed decisions.
- Proficient in Microsoft office products, especially Excel.
- Professionalism in written correspondence and report writing, excellent oral presentation and facilitation skills.
- Availability for potential domestic or international travel preferred.
- Knowledge of one or more languages in addition to English fluency, preferred.
- You must have unrestricted authorization to work in the United States.
Your Daily Tasks
- Support Project Director(s) in all aspects of program implementation to ensure timely, accurate, and thoughtful delivery of high-quality programming.
- Create and manage a system for assigning Leadership Support Team members to support teams as requested, including coordinating and managing their LOE on an ongoing basis.
- Monitor project budgets and analyze project pipelines to inform project implementation.
- Develop and monitor project workplan for activity portfolio.
- Develop and manage monitoring and evaluation plan; analyze results to inform project design and implementation.
- Manage assigned program components, providing guidance and oversight to staff supporting those program components.
- Oversee and provide guidance to design and delivery of program curriculum.
- Oversee and provide guidance to development and delivery of program events, trainings, and workshops.
- Represent IREX and Leadership Practice interests both within and outside of IREX.
- Liaise with funders upon request and assist with new business development efforts as assigned.
- Communicate vision and activity progress with donor, U.S. Embassy representatives, partners, and internal IREX stakeholders.
- Coordinate activities with the Department of State and U.S. Embassies, as needed.
- Contribute technical inputs to complex documents, program reports, and evaluations.
- Approve written documents and products for program implementation.
- Facilitate relationships with strategic program partners.
- In partnership with Project Director, facilitate relationships with donors.
- Manage outreach for various program partners, stakeholders, and vendors as needed in service of program mission.
- Contribute to attachments, budget, and technical proposals for project proposals, as needed.
- Contribute to new business development in areas of leadership development and regional expertise, as interested.
- Monitor assigned program and partner budgets and compliance.
- Provide support and oversight for procurements, subaward management and monitoring, and payments.
- Manager and foster a team environment for the Leadership Support Team
- Provide mentorship, guidance, and training to direct reports and their staff.
- Provide recommendations for team-decision making and contribute to program strategy and direction.
- Lead or participate in the hiring process for new team members.
- Develop and share goals for professional growth with your supervisor and work together to identify opportunities for development and advancement.
- Other support duties as needed.
