Participative Methodology

If you or your organization are seeking to enhance your proficiency in community engagement methods, guided by an ethic of consultation, participation and co-creation, we invite you to join our Spring Training Course!

Learn how to use the EPI methodology

The online Spring Course will cover both the theoretical and practical components of the EPI methodology. Taught by EPI researchers, the course is aimed at researchers, students and professionals working in international institutions, NGOs, donor institutions or government. It is particularly beneficial for researchers seeking to apply the EPI methodologies and practitioners designing projects or policy, assessing policy outcomes and measuring and demonstrating impact with rigor and realism.

What’s included?

  • Critical, experience-based analysis of the peacebuilding field.

  • Exploration of key concepts for a bottom-up methodology, including participatory research, community, locality, and everydayness.

  • Examination of indicators, verification, analysis techniques and the processes of coding and categorization.

  • Practical guidance on designing of research tools, including surveys, interviews, focus groups, forms and voting processes.

  • Real-life examples drawn from EPI practice worldwide, featuring case studies from Colombia, Sri Lanka, Bosnia, and the United States.

By the end of this course, you will be able to:

  • Apply the EPI methodology to design, monitor and evaluate programs and policies.

  • Adapt the EPI methodology to diverse community contexts.

  • Interpret data to inform decision-making
