The Rwanda Land Dispute Management Project (LDMP), sponsored by USAID’s Office of Conflict Management and Mitigation, serves to support and strengthen local land dispute resolution processes. One of the explicit goals of the project is to build local capacity for land dispute resolution. A training of trainers (TOT) manual and conflict resolution theory and methods was designed to train individuals who are responsible for resolving land disputes at the local level on dispute resolution methods and land-related legislation. In addition to a TOT workshop, the corresponding TOT manual was developed. It covers four main themes: (a) understanding conflict; (b) intervening conflicts; (c) active listening; and (d) preparing a training.
