In December 2020, we marked five years since the unanimous adoption of UN Security Council Resolution (UNSCR) 2250, the first such global commitment in support of the Youth, Peace and Security (YPS) agenda. UNSCR 2250 outlines the responsibility of UN member states and actors such as the EU to increase their political, financial, technical, and logistical support to youth-led peacebuilding. On the occasion of this milestone and hosted by Alviina Alametsä, MEP, and Search for Common Ground, representatives of the EU, Member States, youth-led organisations, and peacebuilding civil society organisations met to reflect on the EU’s progress implementing the YPS agenda in its external action, the centrality of meaningful partnerships on YPS, and a positive path forward for the EU to advance the YPS agenda.
