This article highlights the possible repercussions of the mis-use of social media in a large and ethnically mixed refugee camp on its population. The research presented discusses the use of Facebook by young people in encamped settings, highlighting the dangers arising from an uninformed use of this platform by the youth, and how this can impact social cohesion in the camp. The article also offers recommendations for humanitarian organisations on how to work with young people to develop a more informed use of social media.
